I TOLD YOU SCOTTY FANS. I said the BUS was coming for Scotty, and I was right! Lauren Alaina was the REAL Chosen One, and watch her WIN THIS THING because of ANYTHING OTHER THAN HER VOICE. Sympathy votes, judges' false praise, just UNBELIEVABLE!

Why did they actually bring a doctor out (and an odd looking doctor at that)? Did they think we wouldn't believe Ryan? That was hysterical. As was Ryan helping Lauren down the stairs. Idol, have you totally lost your mind? Can't wait to see what tonight brings.

Hey Mike C: Looks like our final podcast for the season will be the week after Memorial Day, so we can have an extra week to process everything (and because it's a holiday weekend). However, you never know what might pop up over the summer.

Looking back over the season and last night's finale...I get a real sense that the top 11 enjoyed hanging out together and are looking forward to the tour. Since I haven't watched every season...that may be the norm...or not.
Another point that just hit me: while I'm sure every one of them would have been thrilled to win, I sense that most of them don't want to be superstars... they just wanted an opportunity to perform and share their talent with an audience. Obviously, Thia has a pretty strong drive -- since AI was her second attempt at national recognition. But I think her parents may be more ambitious than she is.
I think most of the top 11 would be happy making records, touring, and seeing success on a fairly moderate scale. And AI may have brought that chance to all of them.

Nice catch! "Mr. King" is actually Chris Allen. In what is sort of an inside joke, yours truly Matt accidentally called Chris Allen "Chris King" about a half a dozen times in a podcast a couple of years ago. I mistakenly confused his name with Chris King, who was a hockey player for the New York Rangers. William teased me relentlessly about this gaffe.
After he won the title of American Idol, I felt it appropriate to refer to him as "Mr. King" from that day forward.

I have really enjoyed the podcast and want to thank Bill, Matt, and Chris for making a wonderful American Idol podcast and keeping it about AI. (I have been watching since the 1st season.)
The roundtable discussion has been my favorite and I look forward to it on the season finale of this podcast.
Question for Matt: Do you think with the wiining (and others) Idol signed to a different record company this year than in years past, it will lead to a better 1st CD and better treatment than has been in the past?

Hey Everyone, Update Time!
Last night- Matt, Chris, and I recorded a panel discussion for the grand finale radio show.
There were a number of audio problems (dropouts) in the recording, so it wil take a bit to edit completely to get it to our standards, so I'm guessing it will be up and running in about a week.
As mentioned before, It will definitely be worth the wait!
